Anytime Fitness Cessnock are offering residents without power the use of their showers and electricity to charge their phones and mobile devices.
Owner Nadine Delaney said the gym was lucky not to lose power or become flooded and they wanted to help out those in need.
“So many people don’t have power,” she said.
“It’s just about helping the community.”
“A hot shower is the least we can do.”
A local lady stopped into Cessnock KFC on Thursday and gave $20 to one of the managers to put towards the meal of a Volunteer Rescue Association member waiting in line behind her.
The meal came to $26.95, so the volunteer was only set back $6.95.
Cessnock East Public School also wants to give a big thank you to our local volunteers and workers for the effort they’ve put in.
“The staff, students and families of Cessnock East Public School would like to say "Thank You!" to all of the wonderful volunteers and emergency workers who have helped us over the past days. We appreciate all of your efforts!”
A Facebook group has also been created called ‘Maitland, Cessnock and Hunter Valley Disaster Assistance.’
The group was created to ‘help support as many people as possible by taking everything from donations of clothing and food to missing pets and keeping in touch with family.

The Advertiser are also happy to charge mobile devices for people still out of power, office hours are 8.30am-5pm Monday-Friday.
