The simple and anonymous survey aims to reveal information about loss of trading days; damage to plant, equipment and premises; impact on staffing, as well as loss of revenue.
Cessnock Mayor Bob Pynsent urges local businesses to respond to the survey.
“The results of the survey will be valuable for council when lobbying our state and federal counterparts for financial assistance to rebuild the local economy in the wake of the storm,” Cr. Pynsent said.
“Accurate and comprehensive information about the true extent of the damage will enable us to target recovery assistance most effectively.”
In addition to the survey, a two-for-one discount on council’s upcoming Business Leadership Workshop Series is available to local businesses to develop capability in marketing, customer service and sales.
Economic development manager Jane Holdsworth said the workshops are a great opportunity to get expert and practical business-boosting advice.
“As local business looks to rebuild, now more than ever is it important to do so with up-to-date skills and knowledge,” Ms. Holdsworth said.
“We support our business community through this challenging time and are making it more affordable to attend our workshops and get advice from industry experts to help them on the road to recovery.”
To further support Cessnock City’s businesses, council has organised free business advisory services to assist in implementing the tools and tips from the workshops.
