Last Wednesday night at home, Cessnock started strong and slotted away six goals in the first half to show complete dominance.
The second half wasn’t as strong but another goal put the game well out of reach for Kurri at 7-2.
Molly Abbot bagged herself four goals and players’ player for her outstanding effort, Emma Stevenson scored a double and Chelsea Rockley finished the tally with a cracker goal.
Kurri’s goal scorers were Jess Axisa and Courtney Sayer; the Kookaburra’s Brasserie and Grill Award went to Kali-Mae Anderson, who made some great saves in goal, and the Kurri Video Ezy Award went to Tayla Chaney, who had a great day in midfield.
Continuing their winning form, the Hornets women backed up on Sunday to tackle Kurri again and again started the game strong, slotting away three quick goals.
Emma Stevenson found the back of the net twice and Gemma Metcalf smashed one past the keeper.
The second half was a closer contest where Kurri’s Courtney Polly put a good ball through for Tayla Chaney to get on the scoreboard.
Cessnock’s Molly Abbot tapped away a penalty with ease to make the final score 4-1.
Kurri’s Kookaburra Brasserie and Grill award went to Jess Axisa, for a very busy game at stopper; and the Video Ezy award went to Kayla Miller for her great game at left fullback.
Cessnock’s players’ player was Gemma Metcalf, for her outstanding effort throughout the game.
Kurri will play University away on Sunday at 12pm, while the Hornets Women have another home game on Sunday at 9am, when they will take on top-two team Mayfield United.
