Black Creek Aboriginal Corporation’s family fun day drew a large crowd to the Cessnock TAFE grounds on Saturday.
A flag raising ceremony was held, followed by a street parade, and there were a range of activities and stalls on hand.
Ceremonies were also held at Cessnock Hospital, Kurri and Wollombi on Tuesday.
Wednesday’s events include Dreamtime Storytime at Kurri Library (10am to 11am) and a screen printing workshop at CYCOS from 1pm to 4pm.
Aboriginal art workshops will be held at Cessnock and Kurri libraries on Thursday, with traditional basket weaving workshops on Friday.
An exhibition of local indigenous artists – Dheo-Ka – continues at Cessnock Regional Art Gallery until July 26.
