The choirs have been founded by Hope Valley Creative Academy, a new, not-for-profit educational organisation.
The academy will offer two choirs to start in term three, with an official launch and other creative tuition classes to be offered in 2016.
The choirs will operate on Thursday afternoons during school terms from July 23 at Hope Valley Church (169 Vincent Street, Cessnock).
The Cessnock Children’s Choir will be for children in Years 2 to 6 at school and will run from 4pm to 5pm; while the Cessnock Youth Choir will be for Years 7 to 12 students, running from 5pm to 6pm.
Both choirs will be conducted by local music teacher Rachel Main, who has a Bachelor of Music/Bachelor of Teaching from the University of Newcastle and more than 10 years’ teaching experience in various schools in Cessnock, Kurri, Singleton and Newcastle.
Fees for both choirs will be $100 per student per term.
