The Weston Bears let a 3-0 half-time lead slip to go down 4-3 to the Lambton Jaffas at Arthur Edden Oval on Saturday.

Garry McDermott opened the scoring in the 10th minute, after the Bears had completely dominated proceedings.
Wilson Edwards made it 2-0 on the half-hour with a long-range effort, and two minutes later the Bears received a penalty when Troy Hearfield was fouled by Michael Sessions, and Nathan Morris made no mistake to take the lead 3-0.
The second half was a completely different scenario with Jaffas scoring three times in 18 minutes as Weston fell apart.
With three minutes remaining the final nail was inserted and the loss was certainly a bitter pill for the Bears to swallow.
Weston’s under-22s lost 1-0 in a much-improved effort; while the Bears’ under-19s won 2-0 with Jake Sills and Jacob Golding scoring a goal in each half.
Weston’s National Premier League Youth teams were at Rockwell Automation Park last Sunday and played Edgeworth for double points.
The first round was washed out, so it was crucial in that the results could affect the standings come finals time.
Weston’s under-17s won 3-0 with Will Myers scoring a double and Chris Peverini also netting to take outright lead of the competition.
The under-15s won 1-0 with Matt Fogarty scoring the important winner, and are firmly entrenched in fourth position.
The under-14s were disappointing, losing 5-0, and will need to pick themselves back up in a hurry.
The under-13s beat the undefeated leaders 2-0 with Curtis Johnston and Dominic Rusak scoring in a better team display to remain in fourth position.
The youth sides travel to Wayne Richards Park Port Macquarie on Sunday to take on Football Mid North Coast.
The seniors are at home to the Jets Youth on Saturday in a game that is a must-win against opponents who are always tough.
Saturday will be Olde Bears Day, which will celebrate 20 years since the Bears won grand finals in all three grades. All former players and their families are encouraged to attend.
