The second-hand book sale will run from August 3 to 8.
Customer and information services team leader Andrew Powell said the opening day of the book sale had been known to attract more than 200 people who were out to snag a bargain.
More than 5000 books will go on sale as well as magazines, music, DVDs and jigsaws.
“Mills and Boon books have been hugely popular during past sales as have the movie DVDs,” Mr. Powell said.
Residents can bring their own shopping bag and fill it for $5 or buy a library bag and fill it for $7.
All individual items will be less than $1.
The sale books will be located in the front foyer of Cessnock City Library during normal opening hours.
Proceeds of the sale will go towards new stock for the library.
