After winning the premiership, the Bears certainly had their chances but appeared flat especially in the second half. Edgeworth scored the winner from the penalty spot with 10 minutes remaining after bombing a sitter minutes earlier.
Weston will play Edgeworth in the second leg at Edgeworth this Saturday, and need to win to advance to the grand final.
The under-15s played out a scoreless draw with Charlestown in their grand final but lost in the penalty shootout 5-4.
After both sides took five penalties they missed one each before it went to sudden death and Weston didn’t convert.
“Coach Craig Maddison has done a great job improving these youngsters who have become a tight-knit bunch of young men,” Bears football manager Shane Johnson said.
