“Steptember” encourages participants to complete 10,000 steps a day during the month of September and receive sponsorship for their efforts, to go towards the Cerebral Palsy Alliance.
The average office worker takes just 3000 steps a day, but with the help of pedometers participants try to make every step count and record their totals on the Steptember website.
Funds raised help people with cerebral palsy through ease of access to services and programs, support research and provide training and development for employees within the disability sector.
The Advertiser was offered the chance to be a part of Steptember through Fairfax Media, and manager Rebecca Gillon said it is a fantastic fundraiser to be involved in.
“As a group we found that it would be a great way to bond, get healthy and provide much needed awareness and raise money for a great cause, the Cerebral Palsy Alliance,” she said.
“Look out for us around town with our pedometers and donate to a worthy cause.
“We will be doing our bit taking at least 10,000 steps a day.
“When put in perspective the average office worker takes just 3000 steps a day so it will be quite a challenge but worth it to highlight a great cause.”
