First grade lost the toss and were sent into bat at Coronation Oval, getting off to a good start to be 2/185 after 38 overs.
But regular wickets fell from there and they were out in the last over for 216, a disappointing total after the start they had but still a competitive score.
Jack Bennett (87) and Jake Gordon (51) in his return to the top grade were the best, along with Tyler Power (33) in his new role as opener.
Wests got off to a flyer in reply and Kurri-Weston weren’t able to peg them back, with Wests eventually passing the total in the 43rd over for the loss of only three wickets.
Mick Heinrich (1-26 off 10) returned the best figures. Other wicket-takers were Jono Hickey and Jack Bennett to cap off a brilliant all-round game.
The Warriors were rusty in the field, dropping five fairly regulation catches, and misfielding numerous times.
In second grade it was a grand final replay with Wests again getting the win.
Kurri-Weston batted first and were bowled out for 97 in the 38th over. Dasher Fairfull (29), Lachie Vassella (16) and Hayden Paterick (16) were the best of a disappointing batting scorecard.
Kurri-Weston made Wests work hard for the win, taking five wickets before Wests passed the total in the 24th over. Veteran Brian Taylor (2/14) bowled well, along with young guns Liam Dalibozek and Hayden Yates getting a wicket each.
Third grade suffered a disappointing nine-wicket loss to Wests, never recovering from a bad start at the top of the order. Only veterans Lenny Whyborn (15) and captain Craig Wood (25no) got into double figures.
Will Kirby (1-18), in his return to the club, was the only wicket taker. This side will look to improve as the season goes on with some experienced players to come into the team at some stage.
Fourth grade went the closest out of all the grades, posting 142 with Dave Plumridge (40) and Angus Lathan (23) leading the way with the bat.
Tight bowling from Sam Whyburn (2-23) and Mick Plumridge (2-34) pushed Wests all the way, eventually going down by four wickets.
Fifth grade also went down to Wests, this time by 42 runs. The father-son combination of Anthony (36) and Jonah Beavis (3-37) were the standouts in a beaten team.
A lot of the players in this team were playing their first senior match and will no doubt improve as the season goes on.
