John Parr, a great name for a golfer, won B-grade with the day’s equal best score of 39 points, just ahead of Brad Bridge, who has just returned from injury, with 38; with local veteran, Roger Yandle third with 38, despite not scoring on the last hole twice in his round.
Peter Matthews won C-grade with 39 points, well clear of runner-up, long -time local veteran Ronnie Hebbe with 36 and Col Hughes, another one from the vets, third with the same score.
The shot of the day belonged to Bobby Hale on the 11th, which was only 167 cenitmetres away – a shot greatly celebrated by his group as we could hear their shouts across the course.
Tony Lamb showed his class, winning two nearest-the-pins on the 13th and the last hole.
Next weekend’s event is the Mick O’Brien Memorial, a shot gun start at 8am. This is to commemorate the passing of one of our local veteran golfers, Mick O’Brien, the father of Chris O’Brien. Mick sadly passed away in the last 12 months, and Chris and his family would like this event to be held each year, so we can always remember their father who was a long-time supporter of the Branxton Club. We look forward to celebrating his life, by playing golf, next weekend.
