Heavy overnight rain led to carts being banned and a reduced field turning out on Saturday. While conditions were less than ideal both players had decisive wins.
The daily competition was restricted to one division with Nathan Nancarrow taking the spoils with a fine 68 net; second went to Steve Hall with 69 on a countback to David Preece who also survived a countback for third.
Ball winners were Mitch Todd 69, Angelo Korvelic 70, Mathew Cartwright 70, Andrew Russell v73, Troy Wallis 74, Kevin Smith 75, Sue Peel 76, Bruce Chambers 76, Gerry McLaughlin 76 and Brad Borham 76.
Nearest-the-pins went to Brad Nicholson (3rd), Robin Woodward (4th), Tony Butler (8th), Julie Van Den Berg (10th) and Simon Nicholson (17th). Next week’s event will be an individual stableford.
The Weekly Challenge was won by Tim Lonegan with 35 points from Kurri visitor Andrew Hamilton with 34.
The Tuesday stableford went to the in-form Peter Matten for the second week in a row with another solid round of 40 points; Jeff Richardson was runner-up with 39 and Gerry McLaughlin took third spot with 38 on a countback.
Ball winners were Phousang Sihapanya v38, Michael Young 37, Dan Taylor 37, Liam Longmate 36, John Stewart 36, Steven Kane 36, Harold Pursehouse 36, Tim Lonergan 35 and Ken Wright 35.
Nearest-the-pins went to Michael Watson (3rd and 4th), Peter Wilson (8th), Greg White (10th) and Rex Talbot (17th).
The ladies’ 4BBB event was won by Carol Horton and Jenelle Jurd with 46 points from Robyn Dunlop and Lynette Russell with 41 and Jill Slatter and Kerrie Ann Skinner on 40.
Ball winners were Sue Peel and Kay Dunn, Brenda Mannix and Karen Baillie and Lorraine Clack and Diane Oakes. Nearest-the-pins went to Lorraine Clack and Jill Slatter.
Next week the ladies will play an individual stableford.
Thursday’s vets’ five-club event was won by Darrell Preston with 37 points from Graeme Flynn with 36 and third to Keith Dunlop with 35 on a countback.
Ball winners were David Peel 35, Dave Fury 35, Paul Brown v34, Brian Doherty 34, Robyn Dunlop 33, John Stewart 33 and Diane Day v33.
Nearest-the-pins went to David Peel (3rd), Kevin Smith (4th), Geoff Sweetman (10th) and Brian Doherty (17th).
Play of the Day went to Peter Wilson when trying to recover his ball from the dam near the 14th green. Peter slipped into the water; luckily his group and another were on hand to offer assistance (once the laughter had stopped!). He did recover the ball, but not sure it was worth it!
Next week the vets will play a stroke.
