The Year 6 student travelled to Ultimo on November 11 for the senior students’ state final after finishing as regional champion earlier this year.
The first four rounds of the final consisted of words that the competitors could access and study prior to the competition, but once Zoe qualified for the fifth round, unseen words came into play.

Mica Krzyzanowski from Woollahra Public School (who appeared on Channel Ten’s The Great Australian Spelling Bee) was the overall winner of the senior section.
