Weston’s Cassandra Battle will end her 12-month reign and one of seven young women who have entered the quest will be crowned at the glittering ceremony at East Cessnock Bowling Club.
The entrants are:
- Angel Mitchell, 17, of Buchanan
- Emma Myers, 21, of Rothbury
- Kate Sams, 18, of Paxton
- Keegan Pickering, 17, of Aberdare
- Kirra-Lea Thorn, 22, of Kurri
- Taylor Scott, 21, of Cessnock
Once again a wonderful prize list is on offer to the winner, runner-up and quest entrants with a number of local businesses getting behind the quest with sponsorship.
East Cessnock Bowling Club has come on board this year as the quest’s venue sponsor, while prize sponsors include Hunter Family Jewellers, Lauratopia, the Chelmsford Hotel Kurri, Renae Boulton - Makeup Artist and Beauty Services, The Skin Salon, Sienna B Boutique, Ubika Spa Crowne Plaza, Historic Guest House Mulla Villa and iGym 24/7 Kurri.
Most of the judging took place on Monday night with the on-stage interviews and catwalk appearances tomorrow night also attracting marks for the entrants.
Master of ceremonies, Warren Parsons will be in charge of proceedings and conduct on stage interviews with each of the entrants.
Organisers also expect a number of former Miss Cessnock City winners to be there to lend their support to the entrants.
The Quest was re-born in 1991 after a lapse of many years. Eighteen young women entered that year, when Tricia Edwards was crowned the winner.
The young woman who is crowned Miss Cessnock City tomorrow night will have been through a number of experiences prior to her name being read out as the winner.
There will have been the obligatory nomination process and questionnaire, then meeting the judges and the presentation on the catwalk.
The entrants have already been through a major part of the judging process after meeting the four-person panel on Monday night.
They spoke with the judges about their ambitions, likes and dislikes and also answered general knowledge questions on the city.
The winner will be an ambassador for the city of Cessnock for the next 12 months.
Advertiser manager Rebecca Gillon, who was Miss Cessnock City 2006, says it will be a tough task as always to choose a winner.
“A majority of the judging is completed before the presentation night with the interviews on Monday night and answers from the questionnaire which all entrants fill out prior to the event,” Ms Gillon said.
“As judges we assess the entrant on deportment, grooming, speech, expression, local knowledge, poise, personality, their ambitions and aspirations as well as their self-awareness and stage presence.”
“We are amazed every year at the talent, and beautiful nature of the entrants and for this – the 25th year of the quest – we have a wonderful group of young women who do our city proud.”
