Cessnock Mayor Bob Pynsent dropped into Nulkaba Public School last Friday for some ‘elfie selfies’ ahead of the challenge – which will take place at Baddeley Park on Friday, December 4.
Organised by Project Cessnock, the challenge will attempt to break the world record of the most people dressed as elves in the one place, currently set at 1762.
With their red and green uniforms, the Nulkaba students already look the part for the world record attempt.
But for those who need a bit of a hand with their costume, workshops are coming up so you can be elf-ready for December 4.
All you need to do is bring a red or green shirt down to Cessnock Library on Monday, November 30 from 4pm to 5pm or Kurri Library on Tuesday, December 1 from 4pm to 5pm.
The workshops are completely free but bookings are essential; call Cessnock Library on 4993 4399 on Kurri Library on 4937 1638.
Elf hats are available from East Cessnock Bowling Club, Kurri Library, Memo Office and Art, LJ Hooker Cessnock and Fuse Gallery for $5 each, with all of the proceeds going to Jodie’s Place women’s and children’s refuge.
The event is lining up to be a fantastic night, with Christmas carols, live music, night markets, dancing, food and drinks and even an appearance by Mrs Claus.
Gates open at 4.30pm, and people wanting to participate should be present by 5.30pm for the world record attempt at 6pm, followed by the carols at 6.30pm.
