We are back to the usual run of life now; it was interesting by the time we got into Darwin we were three hours younger but on arriving back home we had aged by the three hours but felt no different.

Thank goodness the hot weather did not follow us home, after days of 40-plus it was nice to have cooler days, but on Sunday night I was told the heat would return.
The heat was too much in Cessnock on Friday night for tennis; I was informed that it was much cooler in the clubhouse and players were asked if they wanted to continue play with the heat on the courts and a few players decided not to continue.
This Friday will be the last of the night play until further notice, you will be advised before February 2016 when it will commence again.
But the courts are always available for play if players would like to continue playing on a cooler night. Play has been delayed with rain and heat so hope for a change in the climate in the months to ahead.
The annual general meeting will be held on December 5 at 11.30am, so I hope all members will keep the morning free and attend as we all endeavour to keep the club running successfully. All ideas are always welcome if we can improve the facilities for players, please voice your opinion.
This Saturday will be the first of our Christmas parties which are held each year with the different groups that play during the year. After tennis on Saturday the players will start celebrating with a relaxing lunch at the clubhouse, with all players to provide their favourite dish to be enjoyed by all. The long-term forecast for Saturday said showers but we will still have our celebration with no play.
During our trip we only saw players on the court at Adelaide as it was cooler there, but in the paper at Victoria Downs was an article in their paper about a young boy being the Northern Territory’s Austin Asche Trophy winner and was now the number one player, and was only 14 years old.
I hope that the junior players that were on the courts with Will O’Neil on Saturday will achieve their goal like the 14-year-old boy. We thought we might be able to send them an entry form for out tournament, but it would take a week to get to Cessnock.
