Shepherd took the time trial win in the first race over 21 kilometre, in a new record of 34 minutes and 36 seconds, from his brother Brett Shepherd (35.37), with former time trial record holder and 2015 road champion
Greg Hardes in third place (36.07).
The time trial also had grades held in conjunction, with A-grade going to Shaun Shepherd from Hardes and Trina Compton a great third.
B-grade was won by Brett Shepherd from Steve Smart and visitor Hugh Jones in third with the club trophy going to Graham Crozier.
The C-grade victory went to Clyde Marshall, his fifth in a row and 750th win overall in his 54 years of cycling, with new rider Jade Hutchinson in second place and veteran Johann Sontgerath a good third place after just returning from illness.
After a short break a 14-kilometre combined scratch race resulted in Shaun Shepherd winning his second race in a sprint finish.
He crossed the line in 25 minutes and 39 seconds from the evergreen Hardes and visitor Jones, who finished just in front of Smart, Compton, Brett Shepherd and Crozier.
Next week’s report will be on the annual inter-club day with Cessnock and Kooragang clubs in a Chinese scratch race over 28 kilometres.
Cycling NSW has sanctioned this event in memory of Robert Markwell.
