The 16-year-old will take to the catwalk as Miss Teen Hunter Valley Galaxy 2016 at the NSW Galaxy pageant state final in February, with the hope of gaining a spot in the national final at the Queensland in April.
“This will be my third year as a Galaxy contestant and I am hoping it will be third time lucky but I also know there is still a lot to be done,” Ruby said.
Four finalists and two charity winners will be selected in the Miss and Teen divisions by the panel of judges at each state final, where contestants are judged on fun fashion, swimwear, on-stage question and evening wear.
Ruby says one of the things she loves most about the pageant world is its commitment to charity.
“Australia Galaxy pageants girls have raised $300,000 for Make-a-Wish Australia and Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors over the past three years and I am so happy to have been a part of that total,” she said.
“I am looking forward to seeing what we all can achieve for 2016.”
Ruby says it would be a “dream come true” to win the Miss Teen Galaxy national title and travel to Orlando, Florida for the international competition in August.
If she wins, it will be her second international trip in as many years – Ruby represented Australia at the Mrs, Miss and Miss Teen International pageant in the United States last July.
She described the pageant as a “very busy fortnight of learning, fun and friendship” and was fortunate enough to earn the peer-voted Congeniality award.
“It was an amazing challenge which gave me valuable experience into what is needed and expected on an International pageant level,” she said.
Ruby also fundraises for Down Syndrome NSW, inspired by her brother and biggest fan Macky, who turns seven in February.
Last year she raised $1823.65 for Down Syndrome NSW, thanks to the local community.
Ruby has several fundraising events planned for the next few months, including a visit to the Hunter Valley Zoo, an art competition, ice skating day trip and a Valentine’s Day raffle.
She is seeking prizes for the Valentine’s Day raffle, which will support Make-a-Wish Australia.
