A member of The National Theatre Company, 10-year-old Eve auditioned for the show last year and was one of 25 children selected to be a part of the production.
The rock musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice follows the life and historical rise of Eva Duarte de Peron (Evita) from her impoverished childhood and decisive move to Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Eve is the only child from the Coalfields area who is a part of the kids’ ensemble, and she has already made some great friends along the way.
She has been dancing since the age of three and singing since she was five and just loves being on the stage.
Her favourite songs to perform are ‘Wouldn’t It Be Loverly’ from My Fair Lady and ‘My Favourite Things’ from The Sound of Music.
Eve has been successful in many eisteddfods, has completed a drama course and a musical theatre course through the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) and has also been cast in two other productions later in the year, Hairspray and Aspire.
It takes up quite a bit of her time travelling to Newcastle for rehearsals around attending school at St Patrick’s, but she is dedicated to pursuing musical theatre.
She will be on stage for a fair few scenes in Evita, and even gets to sing some songs in Latin.
Newcastle actress and singer/song-writer Amy Vee will play the part of Eva Peron, Greg Paterson is the musical director while The National Theatre Company CEO and artistic director Chris Maxfield leads the production team.
Evita opens Wednesday, March 9 at the Civic Theatre, Newcastle.
