The football fiesta will start at 9.30am with the Knights under-15s then the under-17s, followed by the Harold Matthews (under-16s) and SG Ball (under-18s) teams in action against South Sydney.
The day will wrap up with the Knights’ Intrust Super Premiership NSW (reserve grade, formerly NSW Cup) clash with the Newtown Jets at 3pm.
Kurri’s Michael Steele will be in action for the Knights, while the Jets – who are the feeder side to Cronulla – will field a number of players with National Rugby League experience.
While all of this is happening locally, the Cessnock Goannas will have their first hit out for the year away against Central Coast team Berkeley Vale.
First grade coach Dan Smailes will trial a squad of about 20 players and competition for spots has been intense.
With the charity shield at Kurri only a week away, Smailes will look to play his strongest squad.
