In an action packed game the Stars beat the Tigers 34-26 at Cessnock Sportsground in front of an appreciative game.
Stars CEO Emma Worthington said it was a huge achievement and a great start to the Stars’ season having beaten such a renowned team in the competition in their first game.
“We were really pleased with the support of the local crowd hanging back to watch the women play,” Worthington said.
The Stars take on Redfern All Blacks at Waterloo Oval in Sydney next Saturday.
“It will be a very challenging match, the All Blacks are known for their size and aggressive play,” Worthington said.
Stars players Emma Young and Caitlin Moran have been named in the the Australian representative squad.
The final Jillaroos team will be announced after a training camp.
