The program will provide Cessnock Council with $700,000 to install wire rope and barrier on a section of Lake Road near Elrington Drive at Elrington; and $500,000 to install a wire rope barrier on the median strip at a curve on Wine Country Drive, north of Broke Road, at Rothbury.
The projects were recommended by a panel of independent road safety experts and will be delivered during the course of 2016-17.
The government has committed $500 million to the Black Spot Program from 2014‑15 to 2018-19, including an additional $200 million over two years from 2015-16 to improve road safety and infrastructure across the country.
