Morris said the game will be remembered for three red cards, but even after watching a replay he struggled to see how any of them could be justified.

““It was by no means spiteful. It spoiled the game as a spectacle and we did tremendously well to hang on as long as we did,” he said. 

Bears goalkeeper Benn Kelly, Olympic’s Simon Mooney and Weston midfielder Robbie Turnbull were all given marching orders in the fourth round Northern NSW National Premier League fixture.

Kelly went first in the opening stanza before Leo Bertos converted a penalty for the hosts.

“It was a penalty, but there was another defender and it wasn’t a certain goal denied,” Morris said.

Hamilton’s Kane Goodchild extended the lead early in the second half before Mooney and Turnbull were red carded in quick succession.

In the final 15 minutes Rhys Cooper netted a double in front of his home fans, including a second on full-time.

The Bears under 22s lost 2-1, with Connor Mason scoring the equaliser before the Bears fell to a last kick of the game goal.

Weston’s under 19s lost 3-0 in a flat display and were never in the game. 

The seniors host Valentine on Sunday  for round 5 of the PS4 National Premier League.

On Sunday the three Bears Youth team played the Emerging Jets with the under 17s having a 1-1 draw.

The under 14s won 3-0 and the 13s won 3-1. The under 15s play on May 11.

The four teams are at home this Saturday for round 8 against Broadmeadow Magic.
