Ray White Cessnock seized the opportunity and held a ‘balloon-pop’ instant-win raffle in aid of the Cessnock District Rescue Squad on the day, raising $1500 for the volunteer organisation.
Rescue squad captain Trevor Milgate said the money would be used to buy new radios, which are in need of upgrading.
Mr Milgate said radios are vital equipment for the rescue squad, particularly when assisting police to search for people who have gone missing or have fallen in bushland.
Ray White Cessnock principal Kevin Phillips said they chose to support the rescue squad because of its important role in the community.
“It is a voluntary unit and we feel it is important we all get on board to keep this vital organisation operational so they can continue their good work,” he said.
“It’s a small way of saying thank you for what they do.”
More than 60 businesses donated prizes for the raffle.
