O’Brien has been part of the Chelsea FC Academy for more than 15 years. During that time he has had contact with every player that has come through the youth ranks and gone on to achieve professional status either at Chelsea or at other clubs in the EPL or Championship.
O’Brien came to Cessnock with Tony Bull, Sean McNulty and Keiran Ryan and spent six years with the club, before a broken leg saw him return to England.
A fit and adventurous fullback, O’Brien was renowned for his deadly deep crossing to aid Cessnock's aerial threat. He keeps in regular contact with close friend and current club president Mike Southworth.
"The club appreciates Frank giving his time to help the younger lads, and also for the service he gave as a player. Hopefully the boys learn a thing or two, and our current and future Hornets can take inspiration from the session to invigorate their season and passion for the game" Southworth said.
O’Brien will take both the 15s and 17s squads in separate sessions on Friday.
