McLeish Estate’s 2007 Cellar Reserve Semillon won trophies for best NSW Semillon, best Australian Semillon and best international Semillon.
In its 33rd year, the International Wine Challenge (IWC) is considered one of the world’s most highly-regarded wine shows.
More than 13,000 wines from 50 countries are entered into the meticulously-judged competition.
The McLeish Cellar Reserve Semillon was awarded at the IWC in 2012 and 2013, but this year sees the wine at the height of success with a trifecta trophy win.
“This year’s IWC confirms what we have known for many years; we can be really proud of the top Hunter Semillon. More trophies than ever, and even higher quality,” estate owner Robert McLeish said.
Mr McLeish and his wife Maryanne oversee all aspects of the family-owned boutique estate, which this year marks its 31st vintage.
The Semillon is produced using hand-harvested fruit from the single vineyard planted in 1985.
McLeish Estate is now in contention for the best international white wine award, with the overall champion trophy winners to be announced at the IWC Awards Dinner in London on July 7.
