But people may have noticed her walking instead of riding for a few weeks.
Ms Atkinson – who has limited mobility, and also cares for her terminally-ill mother – was devastated when the scooter was stolen from her mother’s verandah in Stanford Merthyr earlier this month.
When Bubbles and Bows owner Steve Parnell saw Ms Atkinson out walking last week, he was saddened to learn her scooter had been stolen.
But then the generosity of the Kurri community kicked into action.
Mr Parnell did a lap of the Lang Street businesses, and within no time had raised enough money to buy Ms Atkinson a new scooter.
Then he called into Your Discount Chemist, and owner Fawaz Khodary offered to cover the lot.
Ms Atkinson received the keys to her new scooter at the chemist on Friday and she couldn’t keep the smile off her face.
“I can’t thank them enough,” she said.
