Along with its usual sausage sizzle, the public was invited to crack an egg over the head of the agency’s principal Bryce Gibson (who is also a Cessnock councillor) for $20.
The day raised $800 for Cystic Fibrosis Australia, on top of the $26,000 the Cessnock office has raised in the past six years.
Cystic fibrosis is one of many causes the office supports – others include breast cancer, Jodie’s Place and the Salvation Army.
This charitable spirit was recognised at the Real Estate Institute of Australia Awards for Excellence in Melbourne last month, when the office won the prestigious Community Service Award.
Mr Gibson said he was humbled to have won the award, but said it was due to the ongoing commitment of the staff.
“We are very proud to be given this national title for community service, and it definitely reflects the hard work and effort our office put into every community event we attend,” Mr Gibson said.
“We are proud to say we are part of the Cessnock and Kurri Kurri business community and are privileged to be able to work with great people every day.
“At LJ Hooker Cessnock and Kurri Kurri we know that our business thrives because of the support of the local community, as such we are always looking for ways to give back.”
