The event is organised and co-ordinated by Millfield Public School each year, with more than 60 schools represented in 2016.
Riders competed in dressage and sporting events, with some great skills on show from riders and their horses.
Mount Pleasant Public School took out the primary schools team competition over King Street, Clarence Town, St Aloysius and Rosary Park Branxton who took out the minor placings.
Singleton High School dominated the high school division over a strong Dungog team, with local schools Mount View and St Philip’s taking out equal third.
Many local riders excelled in the individual competition, with Isabelle Kennedy (Rosary Park), Katie Kennedy (Rosary Park), Andie Russell (St Philip’s), Indiana Anderson (St Philip’s), Taylor Sulter (Kitchener) and Lloyd Broadfoot (Mount View) taking out their age divisions.
Millfield Public School principal praised the volunteers for putting the event together.
“The efforts put in by the Millfield community were amazing! Parents and community members gave up several days of their own time to make the event happen despite having no children in the carnival themselves,” Mr Anderson said.
