The three classes – Act 1, Interval and Act 2 – performed much-loved children’s stories The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Where the Wild Things Are and Green Eggs and Ham.
They were directed by their tutor Dan Stranger, with lighting design by John Zeder and original live sound tracks by Jenna Blayden.
Costumes and props were prepared by the actors and their families; and looked amazing, particularly in Green Eggs and Ham, handcrafted by Act 2 student Tahlia Hughes.
Ms Blayden said the performances were strong and enthusiasm was high.
“Each story was brought to life by talented students who worked well together; it was obvious to everyone there how much fun they were having. It was infectious!”
“The audience seemed to be enjoying every minute of the showcase and the advancement of the children’s skills and stage presence is to be commended.”
Cessnock Performing Arts Centre offers weekly drama classes during school terms for students aged seven to 18 years.
The CPAC is also seeking expressions of interest for a mums and bubs dramatic play class (four years and under).
