Society spokesperson Trish Short said the event has come to fruition due to the cooperation of the management of South Maitland Railways.
“Now with the support of Maitland Rail Museum we are able to take this journey again and bring back some wonderful memories for the residents of Maitland and Cessnock district who all have fond memories of riding on the rail motors back in the 1970s,” Mrs Short said.
This 620 class rail motor affectionately known as the “Red Rattler” was built in 1962 and retired from service here in the Hunter in October 2007.
Seats are limited – tickets are $60 each, including lunch at Neath Hotel on the return journey. Call 4932 6967 or 0413 672 408 to book.
