The ball will be held at Cessnock Leagues Club on Saturday, July 30.
The organisers are hoping it will bring back a bit of history and tradition for the Cessnock Rugby League club.
“It’s a great opportunity to give the players and supporters a social night out,” Black and Gold Ball committee member Lauren Watson said.
“It gives the wives and girlfriends a chance to enjoy a night out with their partners.”
“And it gives volunteers who work so hard for footy a chance to relax catch up and reflect on the past plus embrace the future.
“Plus it’s a great positive fun night out for the locals.”
The ball will raise funds for the football club, and also for the Cessnock Relay For Life.
The Goannas will wear purple jerseys in their home game that afternoon, and a jersey signed by local legends Matthew and Andrew Johns will be auctioned off at the ball with proceeds to go to the Relay (a Cancer Council fundraiser).
There will also be raffles, lucky door prizes and photo booths, plus a “pamper station” for the ladies to have their makeup touched up during the evening.
Tickets are $60 per person (tables of 10) and include a buffet meal and entertainment by DJ Jethro.
Tickets are available at the club and must be bought by July 23.
Donations of raffle and auction items are welcome; email blackngoldball@gmail.com if you can assist.
