Cessnock District Rescue Squad and paramedics were called to the accident on Cessnock Street at about 7pm.
When crews arrived on scene the female driver was still inside the vehicle.
Rescue squad members worked to remove the doors and B pillar from the driver's side of the vehicle to allow greater access for paramedics, and to make the removal of the patient easier.
The woman, believed to be in her 20’s, was treated for a head injury, and suffered neck and ankle pain.
The male believed to be in his 20’s, suffered a leg injury.
A NSW Ambulance spokesperson said both patients were relayed to hospital for further treatment.
