Hundreds of boards, bikes and scooters shredded East Cessnock as part of a skate competition over the weekend.

About 180 riders took part in the East Cessnock Skate Competition on Saturday to vie for top spot in their category as-well-as highly coveted sponsorships by Thead and Ink Workwear.
Lachlan Myall topped the Intermediate Bike section, Clayton Toward took out the Advanced Category while Jayden Braun won sponsorship. Zac Bell triumphed in Beginner Scooter, Jordon Jackson took out Intermediate and Will Johns owned the Advanced category while Aaymen Sainelli won sponsorship. In skating Beau Charnock won intermediate while Michael Barnett won advanced.
Organiser Will Doran said the skate competition was a positive display of youth culture.
Mr Doran made special mention of emcee Luke Missingham and volunteers Cody Moore and Kyle Gray who ran the event.
“It was great to see them taking ownership of the event,” he said.
