The three finalists Hunter River High School, Kurri Kurri and Maitland High School played the exciting format of sets-play with “shoot-out” ends.
Kurri Kurri defeated Hunter River in an extra end “shoot-out” in the semi-final and again were successful in the final against Maitlandh with a comprehensive two set win to take the title in its second year.
The HSBC this year involved 20 high school teams across the Hunter education region involving government, non-government and Catholic students from Years 7 to 11.
The winning school teams from the four districts, Manning (Great Lakes College Forster)
Hunter (Kurri Kurri High), Newcastle (Newcastle High) and the Lakes (Hunter Sports) now play for the regional dhampionship title and a chance to win the $1000 cash prize for their school on Monday, August 29, at Kahibah Sports Club.
