Thompson was dislodged when the Allan Denham-trained My Lucky Eagle bucked in the mounting yard.
He was treated on the scene by paramedics and was taken to Cessnock Hospital for observation.
Thompson, who has more than 4000 winners, was stood down for the remainder of his races on the day and Tuesday’s meeting at Gosford.
