The Moon Festival is expected to attract a large influx of visitors to the Hunter Valley from September 15 to 18.
Also known as the mid-autumn festival, the Moon Festival is a celebration of harvest, thanksgiving and prayer for Vietnamese and Chinese people.
It will be held across seven venues – Crowne Plaza, Peterson House, King Horse Wines, Drayton’s Family Wines, Hunter Valley Zoo, Vineyard Hill Resort and Hope Estate.
Organiser Fanny Cheuk said the festival’s aim was to introduce Chinese culture to mainstream Australia.
Tai Chi and Kung Fu demonstrations, Cantonese opera and lion dance performances, a lantern show and market stalls, lunches, wine tastings and winery tours and the Little Moon Princess pageant are among the highlights of the festival.
Tickets start at $10 for unlimited entry to the Moon Palace (at Hope Estate and Crowne Plaza).
