Ellalong (Helena Street), Cessnock West (Alfred Street), Bellbird (Doyle Street) and Kurri Kurri Public School (Rawson Street) will receive the safety upgrade through the NSW Government’s Community Road Safety Fund.
“Children are some of our most vulnerable road users, and we know school zone flashing lights are an effective way of warning drivers and riders to slow down to improve safety,” Parliamentary Secretary for the Hunter, Scot MacDonald said.
Factors including approach speed, pedestrian numbers, traffic volumes, and heavy vehicle traffic volumes were taken into account.
