About 40 people attended the breakfast at Cessnock City Church.
Cessnock Ministers Association president Wayne Kembrey said the gathering provided an opportunity to celebrate and strengthen a sense of community.
“We have the opportunity to instil in the young people of our LGA the values and attitudes that we regard as the cornerstones of any healthy and successful community in a positive and beneficial manner,” he said.
Cr Pynsent thanked the churches for helping to “build our community and make it a better place”.
Focus on the Family Australia CEO Brett Ryan returned to the breakfast for the third year as guest speaker.
He spoke about the importance of communication between parents and children in creating healthy families, and how healthy families can create stronger communities.
