Alleged armed robber flees Bellbird service station empty handed

Police have released a CCTV image as they appeal for public assistance into an alleged attempted armed robbery at Bellbird on Wednesday morning.

Just before 7am, a man entered a service station on Wollombi Road and produced a weapon, threatened the employee and demanded cash, before fleeing the scene empty-handed.

Officers attached to Central Hunter Local Area Command attended the location and commenced an investigation.

Police would like to speak to a man who might be able to assist with inquiries.

The person depicted in the CCTV image was last seen wearing a navy blue hooded jumper, dark coloured cap, dark pants and sunglasses. He was also carrying a purple and black backpack.
