During his 50-year career Taylor’s music has embodied the art of songwriting in its most personal and universal forms, and continues to resonate with people all over the world.
His warm baritone is among the most recognised voices in popular music.
Taylor’s most-loved songs include Fire and Rain, Country Road, Something in the Way She Moves, Sweet Baby James and Carolina In My Mind. In 1971 he scored his first number one single with You’ve Got a Friend, written by long-time friend Carole King. It earned him his first Grammy Award for Best Pop Male Vocal.
Taylor reunited with King for the once-in-a-lifetime Troubadour Reunion tour which kicked off in Melbourne in 2010 and became one of the most successful concert tours of the decade. The Australian leg was marked by sold-out shows and rave reviews.
In the summer of 2015 Taylor released Before This World, his first studio album in 13 years which earned him his first number one album on the Billboard Charts and was nominated for a Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album.
Taylor has sold more than 100 million albums, earned 40 gold, platinum and multi-platinum awards and five Grammy awards, and his Greatest Hits album earned him the prestigious Diamond Award for sales in excess of 10 million units in the US.
Next February James Taylor and his All Star Band return to perform two indoor arena shows at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena and Sydney’s ICC Sydney Theatre. Additionally, he will play open-air shows at Adelaide’s Botanic Park, Hope Estate Winery and Leeuwin Estate Winery in Margaret River. He will also play at A Day On The Green at Sirromet Wines, Mt Cotton.
Joining Taylor at his Hunter Valley show on February 12 will be Australian singer-songwriters Bernard Fanning and Kasey Chambers.
With a solo career now spanning more than 10 years, former Powderfinger frontman Fanning has cemented his position as one of Australia’s finest songwriters and lyricists. There is the country folk-tinged charm of his multi-platinum debut solo album Tea and Sympathy, the rock grooves and horn breaks of its follow-up, Departures, and now, his ARIA-nominated third solo release, Civil Dusk.
Chambers’ new EP Ain’t No Little Girl has just been released ahead of the January release of her 10th album Dragonfly. She has won 11 ARIA Awards, 22 Golden Guitar Awards, two Americana Music Awards nominations and 10 APRA Awards to date.
