The Glencore Junior Classic, at Cessnock Toyota Stadium on Saturday and Sundary, features mixed boys and girls teams in 11 years and under and 14 years and under.
There will a boys competition for 17 years and under.
“We wanted to conduct a junior tournament to help promote and develop basketball in Cessnock and the Hunter Valley. Glencore have made that possible through their Junior Sports Development Program,” stadium general manager Brett Keeble said.
Keeble said the competition was set to become an annual event.
“I encourage everyone to come along as entry is free and there will be some great young basketball talent on display,” he said.

Games will be played on two courts with the first games on Saturday tipping off at 12.30pm, with the under 14s final to start at 6.30pm.
Action begins at 9.30am on Sunday. the final of the under-11 mixed competition is at 10.30am and 17 years boys at 11.30am.
