Mr Standen’s milestone was acknowledged with a morning tea by colleagues at Endeavour’s Vincent Street site on October 12.

Endeavour Group CEO Greg Bourke presented Mr Standen with an award and spoke about his contribution to the disability service organisation.

“I’ve tried to calculate the number of sheets and pillowcases Dwayne would have processed at our laundry over the last 30 years but had to give up when I got to the millions!” he said.

“It’s one thing to come to work every day, but it’s another to come to work and be the best worker you can be and that’s what Dwayne does.”

The Cessnock laundry is a leading supplier of hospitality linen to businesses around the Hunter region.

Production support worker Sarah Colley said Mr Standen has worked across all areas of the laundry during his time with Endeavour Linen Services, but is especially skilled on the linen sorting conveyor.

“Dwayne has even trained some of our Endeavour Group staff in how to sort the linen, including me,” she said.

“He is a really hard worker and we love seeing Dwayne on site every day.”

Mr Standen’s interest in workplace safety has led him to becoming a representative of the Endeavour Linen Service work health and safety committee.

“Dwayne is always keeping an eye on out on the safety of his team mates,” Ms Colley said.

“He is great at making sure everyone wears gloves at all times when sorting the linen.”

Over the last 30 years Mr Standen has also had the opportunity to undertake a number of qualifications, building his skills and confidence through Endeavour Group’s registered training organisation.

This year he was one of six extremely proud supported employees to be awarded a Certificate II in Laundry Operations.

But of all the new skills Mr Standen has learned over the last 30 years with Endeavour Group, he says that making new friends is the best part of the job.

“My favourite thing is the friendly people I work with. The Endeavour staff and going out on deliveries to meet the customers is the best,” he said.
