Students at Cessnock Public School wrote letters of thanks to the firefighters who fought the Racecourse Road blaze.
Teacher Robyn Buttsworth said four classes were involved in the literacy task.
“We knew that the children would want to talk about it,” she said.
Volunteers from Cessnock’s Central Rural Fire Brigade paid a visit to the school on Tuesday afternoon, much to the students’ excitement.
“It was a lovely, positive experience for everybody,” Mrs Buttsworth said.
“Some of the children were asking about firefighting as a career, and that they would like to do that some day.”
Take a look at the lovely letters in the gallery above.
