A ‘come and try’ day will be held at Cessnock PCYC on Friday, December 2.
All people – with and without a disability – in the Cessnock community are welcome to come along and try a number of sports and recreational activities.
The event will run from 10am to 2pm, with activities including wheelchair yoga, wheelchair basketball, soccer, cricket, bocce, music and art.
“The day aims to celebrate the achievements of locals living with a disability, while raising awareness around the importance of inclusion,” Endeavour Group Australia communications officer Kate Krajewski said.
The event has been organised by a volunteer committee of local disability service providers, community groups and Cessnock City Council.
Event partners include Cessnock PCYC, Endeavour Group Australia, Ability Links, House With No Steps, Amped-Ability, Finding Yellow, Challenge Community Services, Choices, Cessnock City Council, the Mai-Wel Group, All Ability Sports Coaching and Zumba with Kim.
The Come and Try day is free; but registrations would be appreciated for catering purposes. Call Kate on 0402 456 568 or Cherie on 0400 267 169 to register.
