The honour roll recognises women who devote their time to improve the lives of others in regional, rural and remote communities in NSW.
Mrs Limn was nominated by Cessnock VIEW Club for her work with the club over the past 41 years, as well as her extensive involvement with Girl Guides.
She started as Brownie Leader in March 1978 and served as Leader-in-Charge and District Commissioner over the years, finishing up in 1988.
Mrs Limn was surprised with the honour at the VIEW Club’s Christmas lunch on November 17.
“I’m never lost for words, but I got such a shock,” she said.
“I was absolutely astounded, it was a very humbling experience.”
Cessnock VIEW Club president Jan Ryan said the club nominates at least one person for the honour roll every year, and felt Mrs Limn was a worthy contender.
“She’s done a lot, not just for us but also the Girl Guides and Brownies,” she said.
Developed by the Department of Primary Industries’ Rural Women’s Network, the Hidden Treasures Honour Roll has recognised the efforts of almost 700 women since 2010.
Other Cessnock-area residents on the honour roll include Judy Clark, Janette Jackson and Marj Wotherspoon in 2011; Pam Bothwell, Robyn Gill, Gillian James, Beth Masterman and Sheila Turnbull in 2012; Judith Wright, Nell Workman and Ruth Gorton in 2014 and Jo Gibson, Jean Watson and Joan McNaughton in 2015.
