The $17.1 million new road and cycleway project is funded by the NSW Government through a $16.7 million grant under the Resources for Regions program, with additional contributions from Singleton and Cessnock councils.

There are over 40 businesses along Hermitage Road that will directly benefit from the upgrade of the road and the introduction of the cycleway.
An estimated one per cent of the current 2.2 million visitors to the Hunter Valley Wine Country are cyclists, contributing an estimated $5 million to the local economy.
The information bay at Around Hermitage was officially opened on Friday, December 2 and was attended by official guests Michael Johnsen MP, Nationals Member for Upper Hunter; Bob Pynsent, Mayor of Cessnock City Council; Sue Moore, Mayor of Singleton Council; Jason Linanne, General Manager at Singleton Council; Vicci Lashmore-Smith from Around Hermitage and Brian McGuigan.
Come Play! Hunter Valley Summer campaign
The Hunter Valley Wine and Tourism Association’s (HVWTA) Summer campaign launched last Thursday and has already reached over 75,000 people in digital amplification across Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
Our main audience is the short break market targeting Sydney, Newcastle, Northern NSW and the Gold Coast areas.
A promotional email was also sent to 14,500 subscribers with content tailored to the family market.
The HVWTA will run a TV commercial campaign with NBN Television and was launched last Sunday, running for two weeks.
The commercial will air during The Today Show, morning news, afternoon news and the first Test between Australia vs Pakistan.

Destination NSW: New regional tourism funding announced
The NSW Government has announced $13 million in regional tourism funding, between 2016 and 2019, to support the regional tourism industry in NSW.
Up to $4 million is available in 2016-2017 and $4.5 million will be available during 2017-2018 and 2018-2019.
Any funds unallocated during 2016-2017 will be rolled into the following year’s program.
The funding will be available through two streams: Regional Cooperative Tourism Marketing Program and Regional Tourism Product Development Program.
The HVWTA is currently working with Destination NSW, the state’s peak tourism body, to maximise our success in accessing funding for marketing activities and product development.
