The 46-year-old dominated across six rounds from March to December to claim the Australasian Superbike Championship Formula Oz.
While he only began riding competitively in his 40’s, winning a title of this calibre has been a lifelong goal of Galloway’s.
Galloway said he grew up wanting to ride bikes, but his family were not in a position to finance his dream.
So it wasn’t until he reached a point where he could afford to fund it for himself that he decided to pursue competition.
This is the first time Galloway has won the Australasian competition, but the title adds to the three pro-twin championships sitting in his cabinet.
His latest conquest though was perhaps his most difficult, riding a lighter, but more powerful bike than the pro-twin.
“I’ve always had a passion for motorbikes,” he said.
“I was pretty stoked [with the win], this was the one I really wanted to get.
“It’s been a lifetime dream of mine.”
He also had to overcome riders half his age to win the title.
“It’s good to show the younger ones how it’s done,” he said.
Despite only having competed for five years, Galloway took a lifetime of experience on road bikes into the competition.
He said learning how to maneuver on the road in wet conditions and gaining a feel for the bike is what has helped him to succeed.
But other than that, Galloway said not much other preparation goes into his competitions.
“I probably shouldn’t tell you this but I eat McDonalds and KFC, I drink beer and I don’t exercise,” he said with a laugh.
“If I was to run around the block I’d probably be puffed.
“I’m naturally not a big person.
“But I’m very active.
“And I think mentally I’m pretty strong.
“I’m pretty determined.”
From here, Galloway said he would love to ride in a support race at the World Superbikes or MotoGP and keep pursuing the sport as long as his wallet will allow.
