Cessnock Regional Art Gallery has brought that dream to life for 19 young people who studied visual art in the 2016 HSC at Cessnock, Kurri Kurri and Mount View High schools.
Mount View High graduate Alexiya Kramarenko said it is an amazing opportunity to have her work featured in the exhibition.
“I was really excited, and so was my whole family,” she said.
Ms Kramarenko’s work, The Line, focuses on domestic violence. She used the faces of everyday women and celebrities to highlight the fact that domestic violence can happen to anyone.
She was impressed by the other works in the exhibition.
“There are some strong issues and opinions expressed,” she said.
Ms Kramarenko, 17, has been accepted into the University of Wollongong to study at combined Bachelor of Arts and Creative Arts.
The 2016 Local HSC Artworks exhibition will be officially opened at 5pm on Saturday, January 14 at 5pm, and will run until Sunday, February 5.

The gallery will hold children’s classes in the last two weeks of the school holidays, including movie making on January 16, pirate and princess art (January 17), Aboriginal painting (January 18), jewellery making (January 23) and card making (January 24).
