The Hawks have appointed co-coaches Troy Gill, Dean Peterkin and Cameron Davies for the 2017 with their squad boosted with Peterkin and several players from Kurri Kurri’s Open Age team which finished runners-up last season and were 2015 premiers.
Peterkin said Tuesday’s session at Howe Park, Abermain from 6pm-7.30-pm, will be a light run for everyone to get know each other.
“We will be getting into full pre-season after Australia Day with sessions on Tuesday and Thursday from 6pm,” he said.
Peterkin said when the Newcastle Rugby League forced the Bulldogs and other teams to drop the Open Age competition he and a number of teammates decided to move out to the Hawks.
He said the club was looking forward to the season ahead and are keen to get things underway with trial games in early March.
